A Note From Liz

I want to start by thanking you for you interest in the ASSERT Program. ASSERT is the product of years of labor, research and study, punctuated by self-discovery. I say this because, in creating the curriculum, and preparing myself to teach it, I have put so much of it to use!

One might think that the person teaching the course is the expert, and that, by definition, they must have mastered every aspect of the material on paper, in practice, and in life. But the truth and beauty of the ASSERT program is this:

ASSERTiveness is a state we work to achieve daily, with every action and every decision. The choice to be ASSERTive makes us keenly aware of times in our everyday life in which we are being everything but ASSERTive, and find that, in so much of life, when we react, we do so unconsciously with passivity, passive aggressiveness or aggressiveness that we did not intend.

Therein lies the key to the ASSERT program. It is simple and clear, and yet not at all easy: Response rather than Reaction.

I firmly believe that the program that we have created is a true Empowerment tool with real, highly effective, easily translatable Self Defense techniques and applications. Since its creation, we have had the privilege of teaching this program in its various forms to groups School Children, Pregnant Teens, Women with Eating Disorders, Previously Victimized Women, College Students, and High School Seniors, to name a few, and all have left class with a very different, much clearer and well-defined sense of their own power, abilities and worth. I have had the honor of leading those classes and serving as catalyst for that change and I have been blessed to have, in the course of creating this program, felt its effects in my life as well.

I hope that you will join us in class, as a Student, as an Instructor or as a Professional, and experience the power of the ASSERT Curriculum for yourself.
