ASSERT works to bring more women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Im-/Migrant, and underserved communities to a shared, gender inclusive table where they are welcomed as experts in safety and security — areas traditionally held as exclusively male industries, and to improve our communal quality of living through Gender parity, Empathy, Empowerment, Integrity, Support, Communication, and the understanding that we can all be safe to succeed. But we don’t stop there.
We are working to end Predator Culture in every field we can reach.
We have taught ESD-based self-defense and liability-conscious tactics to medical personnel, including nurses’ unions, medical students, home health care providers, and private practices, tailoring programs to address their specific needs. For example, one medical professional union wanted to learn effective, liability conscious physical restraints that would help them address patients and patient family members that were being violent or resistant to treatment, while providing the nurse defensive tactics to ensure their own safety.
We have provided ESD scenario-based adrenaline stress training to Medical Students designed to simulate the stress of emergency medical situations while requiring them to manage patients, patient’s families, staff, and other emergencies. Similarly, we have created programs for law firms wishing to prepare clients for appearing in court and other high stress situations.
The ASSERT Curriculum includes an activist-specific program for protesters and front-line volunteers/ press designed to address their safety while under fire, whether being attacked verbally or facing life threatening situations.
Our Professional and Corporate programs include an Active Threat Mitigation program that addresses emergency situations such as active shooter scenarios, natural disasters, and a variety of different types of violence. We have used this program to train security teams for nonprofits, religious facilities, and corporate offices.
